Hello!

Hi there.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ve thought about doing this many times (ha, you can see my archives date back to 2012!!), but here I am, ready for you!

Be it well. Be what well? Be you well. Anything you are and want to be, be it well. That’s the mantra of this whole thing, and that’s what I strive for in my daily life. I’m excited to share my daily life with you, and the little ways I try to “be it well.” This blog will show you my love of many things: Kate Spade purses, home (apartment) decorating, MBA studying, Pure Barre classes, Whole 30 eating, 1/2 marathon training, chocolate milkshake drinking, Beautycounter products (user & consultant!), and clean living…and lots more. I’m not perfect, but always trying to be better and be it well, and I’m here to share that with you. Oh yeah – and I’m wedding planning and ready to marry my guy this November!

xo,

Carolyn

Whole30 Round 2, Day 1

Whole30.  Yeah.  Round 2.  Done this before. NBD. Sort of.

I’m definitely not as prepared this time around, but I know what it will take and I’m in for the 30 days…because I want to do it and because boyfriend knows I’m doing it (therefore I can’t fail).

So. Day 1:

Breakfast: 3 eggs scrambled with sausage, spinach, and avocado

Lunch: spinach salad with mandarin oranges, pickled onions, and chicken

Snack: Larabar

Snack 2 (I know, I know): apple with almond butter and coconut

Dinner: WF rotisserie chicken, pepper slices, and mashed sweet potato

Thoughts: Daylight savings time plus jet lag is kicking my butt.  I’m tired/worn out, and have been on the go for DAYS (and still been useless!). I’ve had a headache for the past few days too.  Definitely trying to up my water intake. Overall, I’m just glad to be back at it, and to step back away from the chocolate.

Get Shit Done

This is a work in progress.  The whole “Make it Happen” thing.  Google Calendar rules my life – in a good way – maybe I should rephrase to “I dominate Google Calendar.”  Yeah.  As in, today, I showed someone how to make an event automatically recur.  Really? We all know how to use computers these days, right? I thought so.

Here are my best tips for making things happen:

– make a list

– get motivated by checking things off the list!!

– realize that there are MANY tasks that will take just 5 minutes of your time – folding laundry, unloading the dishwasher, picking up a room.  Take the 5 minutes.

Here’s what my life looks like right now:

– 3 loads of (clean) laundry spread all over my couch (don’t worry, they’re towels and workout clothes….because that’s pretty much all I use these days)

– dirty dishes in the sink!

– my “free sample” collection of makeup/skin products is out of CONTROL!

– instead of sleeping (after a long day, which included a 6 AM Pure Barre class), I’m blogging.

But yeah – it’s a daily thing.  Get shit done.  Make stuff happen.  My schedule for tomorrow is packed, and I’m really just looking forward to checking things off my list, and getting baby steps closer to organization.

New Year’s (a few days later…)

2014. I did SO MUCH, yet so little as compared to years past. Or maybe it was just SO different that it seems like less when it was really more? That may not actually make sense to anyone, but I’m definitely still trying to wrap my head around it.

One thing I realized this year – I need to stop sliding through life and actually MAKE goals for myself – and then make plans to make things happen. I suppose I’ve always done this – but in a slapdash-make-it-happen way, and I want to be more intentional.

So, things I accomplished in 2014:
– Moving
– Making new friends!
– Getting entirely out of my comfort zone in my new job
– One post-bacc class complete!
– Ran my first 1/2 marathon!
– Traveled (Florida, DC, Virginia)
– Started writing (and doing) a 101 in 1001 list

Things to DO in 2015:
– Be intentional with my time on a daily basis
– Set and reassess goals throughout the year
– Continue to organize and purge my apartment
– Quality over quantity when shopping!
– Solidify my long-term career goals
– Take 3 post-bacc courses
– Make exercise a priority (Pure Barre and Running – training plans!)
– Travel (San Diego trip planned for the summer!)
– Read books
– Less Whole Foods salad bar (and who are we kidding, pizza-by-the-slice) and more home cooking and packed lunches!!!
– Work towards being the healthiest version of myself

Favorite Things

1. Pure Barre.  I’ll admit it, I’m addicted to some LTB. I’m WELL on my way to the 100 Club.

2. Short Sleeve Hoodies.  Stick with me here – they are the perfect post-workout cover up for the Spring/Summer months.  I can throw them on over my sweaty top and run into Harris Teeter for the two things I always need from the grocery store.

3. My new iMac.  Love.  It’s just so big and pretty!

4. CSA.  See my last post.  It’s pretty fun.

5. My cute little town.  It’s small, but SO ahead of itself – awesome Farmer’s Market, Food Trucks, restaurants, free concerts, Baseball Games, shopping.  I love it.  And I love living and working so close to the action!

6. Jack Rogers.  In the last Nordstrom sale (ugh, so dangerous), I found TWO pairs that were half price…a pair of silver flats, and a 2″ black wedge.  They’re both awesome.  After the quick break-in period (silly me, shouldn’t wear them to walk MILES the first time…), they are now super comfortable.  I don’t care that everyone has them – I like them.

7.  Kate Spade.  My favorite.  I have a bit of a Kate Spade problem.

8. Rearranging furniture.  One would think that since I moved from a house (sadness!) into a much smaller apartment, that I wouldn’t have enough space to constantly rearrange my furniture/decor anymore.  On the contrary…just tonight, I created a little office area for myself behind the couch. I’m sure this isn’t the end of it.

9. West Elm bedding.  I’m on my third duvet cover (in 4 years?).  It’s a bit of a disease. With good reason though – I had a Navy blue duvet, then moved and painted my new walls navy blue…so the duvet had to go.  I went with white this time – loving the white bedroom.

10.  San Diego. I’ve spent SO much time there over the years, but it’s never enough! I’m definitely an East Coast Girl, but I love wandering Coronado, eating out in Gaslamp, and spending money in Fashion Valley.  Time to plan another SD trip!
